Steelhead on the fly! Week of May 3-8, 2014

May 9, 2014

Hello From Southeast Alaska,

The Adventurous is in Petersburg for the last turn of the 2014 Steelhead season. Our next trip will take us back home to Sitka and the streams and rivers on the outside coast. It has been a wonderful time operating the Adventurous in this area and we look forward to returning next season. The streams and water treated us well here this year and the Southeast Alaska wild steelhead continue to return in good healthy numbers. This is an amazing time of year in Southeast Alaska and the Tongass that gives the feeling that everything is new and untouched.

Joining us this week was returning guests Sean McCullough, Joe Ceballos, and Adventurous first timers Tom Aufiero, Jason Trochesett and David Hozjan.  We covered some spectacular country this week fishing 6 different streams on 3 different islands and the one on the mainland. Low snow pack and lack of rain have stream levels a very low and more difficult to fish, but we did find some good fishing. Every one was able to release a number of very nice Steelhead. Sean on the first day landed 2 fish in 6 cast and called it a day spending the rest of the day hiking and relaxing. Joe released a number of good fish after utilizing the swing. It was a great week with to many outstanding memorable experiences  to list. Thanks to the crew for joining us putting on the miles to find the fish!

Keep casting,

Captain Travis
