April 19-24 The Oregon Crew

May 3, 2013

Hello From Southeast Alaska,

We are not ordinarily not into setting records, but this week was full of them most of which centered around out good friend and steelheader Rodney Johnson. It wasn’t the size of the fish, or the number it was the fact that our 92 year old buddy was went up and fished some of the ruggedest streams around. As far as we can tell after discussing, and asking around 92 would be a record on just about any steelhead stream in Southeast Alaska!! Great Job Rodney!!  Also joining us this week was our good friends Walking Bill Burlieh, Fred Roberts, Jeff Helfrich, Gerry Morgan and first timer master guide Dick Helfrich.

We had a mixed bag of fishing conditions this week, but mostly sunny with no rain. We found fish, but low clear water made them weary  and a little difficult to catch. The crew was persistent  and managed to land some great fish. The trip culminated with a big rain storm the last day that turned on a great bite! Thank you for a great week guys we look forward to seeing you next year!!
